Digital queue management for restaurants
Restaurants that accept walk-ins can use a digital queue to organize arrival order and help guests follow their ticket status while they wait.
Build a clear host-stand process
- Decide which walk-in parties enter the queue and how party size is recorded.
- Place a QR code where guests can scan it without blocking the entrance.
- Provide a host-assisted option for guests who cannot use the QR code.
- Have staff keep queue status current as parties are called, skipped or seated.
- Explain how guests should monitor status and return when their turn approaches.
Keep expectations accurate
A queue position is not a guaranteed seating time. Party size, table availability, accessibility needs and service conditions can change the wait. Staff should communicate honestly and avoid promising automated SMS alerts or precise wait estimates unless those functions are confirmed in the product and enabled for the business.
